Appointments: Consultation with a doctor or nurse at Greythorn Doctors Clinic is by appointment, walk in appointments are accepted. Please call the clinic during opening hours to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, you can book online through Health Engine. Online bookings can be accessed via our website www.greythorndoctors.com.au.

If you require an insurance medical, review of complex or multiple health issues, counselling for emotional difficulties or a medical procedure please book a long appointment

If more than one person from your family wishes to see a doctor at the same time please ensure that a separate appointment is made for each member.

There are some reserved appointments for patients who are ill or injured on the day. Our nurses will speak with you about your issues and organise a suitable appointment. In an emergency patients will see the doctor.

For standard childhood immunisations please make an appointment with our doctor as usual.

Home Visits: Limited home visits are available. Under special circumstances the Drs at the practice may negotiate house calls for elderly, frail or palliative patients. It is usually more appropriate if the patient is able to attend the clinic as it is well equipped for examination and treatment.

Telephone Access: Most problems are best dealt with in consultations with the doctor. However, during normal surgery hours there is always a doctor available for emergency telephone advice. Our reception and nursing staff are experienced in helping you decide whether the matter requires an appointment, a return phone call or urgent medical attention

Emails: Greythorn Doctors Clinic has the capacity to respond to general matters via email. However to ensure optimum health care provision it is not possible for our doctors to deal with any health matters including the release of test results, prescriptions or referrals via email

Results : Pathology and radiology test results are generally available within 2 days of the test being performed. Some complex test results can take longer. Results are downloaded electronically to our doctors by our pathology and imaging providers.

Reception staff do not have access to your clinical information and test results.

We prefer that you make a follow-up appointment to discuss test results with the ordering doctor. Taking time to discuss your test results during an appointment, even if these test results are normal, helps you gain a better understanding of your medical care.

If your results require urgent follow up you will be contacted by your Doctor or a nurse. If your results are abnormal but do not require immediate follow up and you have not made an appointment, you will be notified via SMS, phone or letter and advised that an appointment is required. Please note that this may not occur until several weeks after your results have been received.

If you have any questions regarding this matter please speak with your Doctor or one of the nurses.

Prescriptions : To ensure the delivery of the highest and safest standard of medical care all patients must attend an appointment with their doctor for repeat prescriptions. In exceptional circumstances and at your doctor’s discretion, a repeat prescription may be done without an appointment. a full private consult fee will be charged.

Referrals to Specialists : The doctors at the practice request that all patients make an appointment for any referral to a specialist. Referrals from a GP to a specialist are valid for 12 months unless otherwise specified. Please ensure that you check with your specialist PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT that you have a current referral. It is unlawful for GPs to backdate a referral and therefore a referral is unable to be written after a patient has seen the specialist.

Reminders and Recalls: At Greythorn Doctors Clinic we are committed to providing preventative healthcare and utilise a computerised reminder system to generate reminders for immunisations, diabetes checks and other preventative care activities. If you do not wish to receive a reminder letter or SMS you are able to opt out of this system at any time. Please discuss further with your doctor or nursing staff if you wish to be removed from the reminder system
